How Do You Get Started With Philosophy?
My notes while studying the “Introduction to Philosophy by the University of Edinburg” Coursera course.
The first part of the series covers what I studied in the “Introduction to Philosophy by the University of Edinburg” Coursera course.
An overview of some of the major fields of philosophy, as well as a sample of some of the issues and questions you might encounter as part of a philosophy degree program.
Part 1 — What is Philosophy?
Philosophy is the practice of determining the correct way of thinking about things. Philosophy is an activity, thus you must engage in it to understand it. To do philosophy, you must first consider philosophical questions and the approaches taken by other thinkers. When learning philosophy through practice, you will need specialized tools and approaches to reason, argue, and articulate oneself.[1]
Aren’t all topics trying and thinking about things correctly? Yes, but philosophy is more than just thinking about things; it is also about determining the correct method to think about them.
